Support and Advocacy for Asylum-Seeker Women
The project
The Support and Advocacy Initiative for Asylum Seeker Women tackles the needs and problems of asylum-seeking women (mainly Eritreans and Sudanese), a highly marginalized and vulnerable group. The two-year project is funded by the Austrian Porticus Foundation and implemented by the Aid Organization for Refugees and Asylum Seekers in Israel (ASSAF). The project aims to improve the lives of asylum-seeking women, especially single mothers and victims of domestic violence, by addressing their needs, providing psychosocial support, case management and follow-up services. The project also advocates for the extension of existing social services and welfare policies for asylum-seeking women. Moreover, the project intends to raise awareness in the asylum-seeking community (mainly Eritrean and Sudanese) about domestic violence.
