"Words Matter" : Educating about and for Freedom of Expression
The project
“Words Matter”: Educating about and for Freedom of Expression is a 24-month project funded by the European Union, and implemented jointly by the Adam Institute for Democracy and Peace and the Association for Civil Rights in Israel (ACRI). The project aims at preventing hate speech and incitement, and promoting the freedom of expression, especially in middle and high schools. The project targets diverse sectors of the Israeli society, Jewish and Arab, alike. In order to achieve its goals the project conducts a series of activities: advocacy work targeting decision makers, teacher training seminars, student peer-leader activism seminars, educational programmes in the classroom, and student action-projects. Furthermore, it develops and disseminates educational materials that provide for in-depth and innovative experiential learning experience.
